Volunteer roles Youth of the World Saturday Volunteer We are looking for volunteers to join our fantastic team and support our Saturday sessions. Volunteers will assist our Project Assistants and Artists to deliver with the workshops and support our children . Experience with working with children is essential, desirable experience of working with neurodiverse children. Full enhanced DBS will be provided along with travel expenses for each session. Afrocats will be back at the Whitworth Art Gallery during October half term with our award winning activities for children, young people and families. We'll fill the gallery with African and Caribbean songs as well as delivering our cultural and creative arts and crafts workshops. Afrocats x Whitworth presents: Shimmy and shake through the gallery Half-term activities Each session runs from 12pm-3pm All sessions are free, drop-in, no need to book Join us for three fun-filled days and a vibrant and creative cultural experience for all ages. Shimmy and shake your way through the gallery listening to the cultural music that will echo through the galleires. The Everyday Art School will have different arts and crafts activities each day that you can attend to let your imagination run wild. Led by diverse professional artists, this event is a great opportunity to learn about and celebrate culture. The activities are designed to be inclusive and accessible to everyone, regardless of age or experience. All sessions are FREE, drop-in, no need to book. Everyone is welcome. Our work supports communities through creative expression, participation, and inclusive cultural experiences. As we grow our reach and impact, we are strengthening our Board to ensure we remain ambitious, sustainable, and community-led. This is a meaningful opportunity to play a key role in the governance and strategic development of a growing organisation that centres equity, lived experience, and creativity. Who we are looking for? Fundraising and Income Generation We are looking for someone with experience in fundraising, bid writing, or income generation. You will support the development of long term funding strategies, major grant applications, and sustainable income growth. Marketing and Corporate Engagement We are looking for someone with experience in marketing or business engagement. You will help raise our profile, strengthen our brand, and develop meaningful partnerships with businesses and corporate supporters. Philanthropy and Relationship Building We are looking for someone with experience in philanthropy, fundraising networks, or relationship management. You will help us connect with donors, foundations, and individuals who can support our long term impact. Volunteer Management We are looking for someone with experience in volunteer coordination or management. You will help us develop inclusive, safe, and supportive volunteer systems as the organisation grows. Finance and Accounting We are looking for a qualified finance professional, ideally a chartered accountant. You will support financial oversight, planning, reporting, and long term financial sustainability. What you will do as a Trustee As a Trustee, you will help guide the strategic direction of Afrocats and ensure we remain financially sustainable, well governed, and aligned with our mission. You will contribute to decision making at Board level, support risk and compliance oversight, and help ensure our work continues to centre creativity, wellbeing, and community impact. You will also act as an ambassador for Afrocats, helping to champion our work and values across your networks and beyond. Payment Terms Payments are due within 30 days of the invoice date. There is a 5% late payment fee for payments made more than 30 days past the invoice date. Payment Processing We will send an invoice for each payment. Invoices can be paid online, by BACS, or by cheque. Once payment is received, we will send a receipt. Afrocats Workshop Cancellation Policy If a school or organisation cancels a workshop booking more than 14 days before the scheduled date, there will be no cancellation fee. If a school cancels a workshop booking less than 14 days before the scheduled date, there will be a 50% cancellation fee. If a school cancels a workshop booking on the day of the scheduled date, there will be a 100% cancellation fee. The cancellation fee will be used to cover the costs of the workshop, including the cost of staff, materials, and any rentals. If a school needs to cancel a workshop booking due to unforeseen circumstances, such as bad weather or school closure, the school should contact us as soon as possible. In these cases, Afrocats may be able to reschedule the workshop or issue a refund. Schools are encouraged to book their workshops as early as possible to secure their spot and to avoid any cancellation fees. Refunds Refunds will be processed within 10 business days of the request.

At the end of January our Forever Manchester funding for culturally appropriate food parcels runs out and our waiting list is growing. We need to raise £4,200 to support 56 refugees and asylum seekers for 3 months and through this next lockdown.
