    We work with schools, community groups and organisations across Greater Manchester to deliver creative workshops that help children and adults explore creativity, culture and heritage.  We deliver creative workshops for schools, community groups and organisations across Greater Manchester We'll work with you to develop a workshop that meets your goals. Black History Month During October we can deliver interactive and engaging workshops that celebrate African and Caribbean culture through creativity, song and dance. Black History Month is a busy time for us, so get in touch soon to see how we can work together. Arts and Crafts We can adapt our art and crafts workshops to cover topics that support your curriculum or areas of interest. Such as: Recycling Nature Space Identity and belonging Cultural identity Cultural dance and creative movement Our two-part dance and movement sessions involve a fun and cultural dance session with African, Caribbean, Middle Eastern movements. This is followed by a relaxing and slow-pace creative movement session using different choreographic techniques. Music and storytelling Using music, singing and storytelling our workshops will help participants to explore different cultures, memories and their identity. We can deliver sessions with: drumming singing keyboards Wellbeing We deliver wellbeing sessions that aim to create a space for participants away from their worries, unwind and relax. We use a range of techniques including: Yoga Mindfullness Relaxation Working with schools Our engaging workshops for schools will take your students on a journey where stories come to life and they learn through experience. Each workshop can be part of your school's curriculum and designed to meet your needs.   • Youth of the World | Afrocats | Charity

    Youth of the World is our programme of work for young people so they can broaden their horizons. We work with children and young people aged 8 to 18 from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, in particular refugees and asylum seekrs. Youth of the World supports young people to broaden their horizons, develop their skills and importantly have lots of fun We work with children and young people aged 5 to 18. They might be living in temporary accommodation, seeking sanctuary in the UK or experiencing barriers because of their economic status. Without the support of Afrocats, they would have limited opportunities to participate in activities and enriching experiences outside of school. 1322 children and young people 85% are Black, Asian or from the global majority 40% were living in temporary accomodation 10% are home schooled or not regularly in school Over the past year we've worked with Services for young people We deliver projects and activities that support young people to feel included, help them to develop skills and improve their wellbeing. Creative Expression Whether it's mark-making or hip-shaking, our Saturday sessions are full of creative energy and fun. We Lead Projects to level up leadership skills, develop confidence and empower young people to be leaders in their communities. Explore with Afrocats Cultural visits and inspiring experiences for young people in venues across Greater Manchester. Volunteer with Afrocats Volunteering opportunities to boost CVs, develop new skills and meet new people.     We work with diverse artists, mentoring them as they develop their creative practice We're commissioned to deliver mentoring to early career artists who are looking to develop their skills in creative facilitation with young people in schools and in community settings. We can offer mentoring support for: Participatory arts School workshops Theatre and performance art Dance and creative movement Facilitation skills Evaluation Our mentees gain an understanding of how how their artform and creativity can be used to benefit children and young people in schools, community groups and other youth settings. We work closely with our partners and networks to provide opportunities for emerging artists to develop their skills and gaining knowledge of how schools and different organisations work.     At the end of January our Forever Manchester funding for culturally appropriate food parcels runs out and our waiting list is growing. We need to raise £4,200 to support 56 refugees and asylum seekers for 3 months and through this next lockdown.
